The purpose of the study was to explore culturally diverse newly graduated nurses\u2019 lived experience of being mentored Thirteen RNs from five South Florida Hospitals who were post-graduation 6 months to 2 years were interviewed. Participants\u2019 validation of transcripts served as member checks. Van Manen\u2019s phenomenological methodology guided the analysis. Four essential themes emerged, Stumbling, Connecting, Becoming, and Being. The theory of transition elucidated the challenges of change from student nurse to professional nurse. Positive mentoring had a significant role that mitigated the graduates\u2019 intense distress during transition.
