I begin with the circumstances of my birth and move on to major trials I faced in early adulthood, laying them out as a foundation for readers to reference. I discuss skills picked up from my mother and techniques I later learned to use in high school, undergraduate and graduate school, which I used to create this body of work, which cathartically reflects on my origins. My intent is for the viewer of my work to have a deeper understanding of how and why I created the images in my thesis exhibition, which is the culmination of many years of artistic experimentation.
