This exploration eventually comes to a resolution where the individual develops an attachment towards a particular group. Various identity development theories and models are used to understand its development and the significant impact it has on people\u2019s lives and well-being. The purpose of the present study is to examine the impact of Haitian adolescents\u2019 ethnic identity on their psychological well-being. For the purpose of this study, adolescents will be examined to see how the level of their ethnic identity influences their psychological well-being. The remainder of this section critically reviews the initial discussion on identity and identity models that help to formulate an understanding of its development. It will also contain a review of the contemporary literature regarding ethnic identity development and how it impacts psychological well-being.
