These conditions are leading to less time able to be spent with their critical patients, which has a negative impact on patient care, patient safety, and patient satisfaction. Without an understanding of these nurses, unfavorable work conditions and their negative impacts will continue to occur. Purpose: This study explored the lived experience of registered nurses working in an inpatient, outpatient, or hospice oncology setting. Philosophical Underpinning: A heuristic qualitative approach was guided by the interpretivist paradigm to gain an understanding of the lived experience of oncology registered nurses. Methods: The sample was registered nurses working in an inpatient, outpatient, or hospice oncology setting in South Florida. Purposive and snowball sampling were used. Data analysis was guided by Moustakas\u2019 (1994) transcendental phenomenology. Results: From 18 oncology registered nurses, three themes emerged: Having What It Takes, Doing What It Takes, and It\u2019s All Worth It. Conclusions: This study revealed that registered nurses find it challenging yet rewarding to work in an oncology setting. The participants revealed characteristics inherent to being an oncology nurse, depicted what it entails to take care of oncology patients including challenges, and portrayed what makes it all worth it for them to stay in oncology." ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Classification" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "RC266.M34 2018" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Publication Date" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "2018" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Genre" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Academic theses" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Holding Location" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Barry University Archives and Special Collections" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Resource Identifier" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "RC266.M34 2018_McGillShariA" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Language" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "English" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Permanent Link" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "http://sobekcmsrv.barrynet.barry.edu/AA00001584/00001" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Creator" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "McGill, Shari Antoinette" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Note" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Thesis (Ph.D.)--Barry University, 2018.", "Includes bibliographical references (leaves 173-180)." ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Physical Description" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "xiv, 192 leaves ; 28 cm" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Publisher" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Barry University" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Place of Publication" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Miami, Fla." ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Type" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Book" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Rights Management" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Copyright Shari A.
