In this thesis a trinitarian theology will frame the development of a feminist ethic of Christian community. Feminist theology has shaped and contributed to the theology of ethics in recent years. It has revisioned natural law as the basis of ethics; placed an emphasis on the social and historical context of ethics, and a renewal of Scripture as a source for ethics. These contributions will be examined as a means of imagining and re-imaging a new human community based on the values of mutuality and reciprocity. Three forms of community life will be critically reflected upon, the life of the family, the life of the church and the life of the world. To the extent that the life of these three communities are animated by the life of God, authentic Christian community will be made visible.
