Emotional intelligence, cognitive intelligence, and academic self-concept were expected to be associated with differences among participants\u2019 adjustment to college scores. Participants included 93 first-year college students (61 female, 32 male) at an ethnically diverse university in South Florida. Results indicated that for participants born abroad, emotional intelligence was a significant predictor of college adjustment, after accounting for the effects of cognitive intelligence and academic self-concept. For participants born in the United States, emotional intelligence did not account for any additional variance in college adjustment.
