The purpose of this study was to examine prevalence rates of ED and ED symptoms for 133 male and female competitive collegiate rowers competing in lightweight and open-weight programs. Participants completed the Questionnaire for Eating Disorder Diagnosis (Q-EDD) to assess prevalence and three subscales of the Eating Disorders Inventory-2 (Drive for Thinness, Perfectionism, and Body Dissatisfaction; EDI-2; Garner, 1991) to examine symptoms. More than half of the participants were classified as symptomatic (n = 65; 49%) or eating disordered (n = 5; 4%). Results showed that lightweight rowers had higher prevalence of ED, greater drive for thinness (F (1, 129) = 19.07, p \u003C.001), and greater body dissatisfaction (F (1,129) = 4.57, p \u003C.05) than open-weight rowers. Male rowers had higher prevalence of ED than female rowers, but females had greater body dissatisfaction than males (F(1,129) = 9.57, p = 0.002).
